Sunday Stash September 29, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

Remember Me is close to the point where I can sew the two halves together. I have a ways to go, but the end is in sight.

I also started a new project this week. With all the craziness at work, it didn’t take long to realize I didn’t have the mental capacity at night to work on Study in Stitches. I needed something more mindless and started a pair of crochet socks.

I bought the book on clearance at Hobby Lobby a few years ago, and the yarn at Goodwill. This is ...

September 2024 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

It’s almost Fall. I love everything about this time of year – cooler weather, the red, orange, gold and brown leaves against a crisp blue sky, the smell of cinnamon and nutmeg, pumpkin everything, fresh apples. The days are getting shorter, with less time outside. The sewing room calls my name.

I didn’t finish anything last month, nor did I start anything new. I wanted to but already had a lot going.

Study in Stitches Sessions 1 and 2 from Quilt Paint Create

I’ve had a few sessions with this project, which is less than I hoped. But any start is a good start.

I’m tracking the threads and the stitches in a notebook because I won’t remember them over time. The info will be helpful if I choose to repeat anything.

The top two wavy rows are chain stitch with a blue variegated Prism craft thread. Prism is a DMC product, something I didn’t know until I looked it up.

The next two rows are chain stitch with #12 pearl cotton from Presencia. With this finer thread I ...

August 2024 Short List and OMG from Quilt Paint Create

August always feels like the end of summer, even though it’s still hot in September. Once school starts, the focus turns to fall activities and the upcoming holidays.

I have a lot going on this month and won’t have many weekends at home. I expect that will cut down my creative time.

I finished a shirt in July and didn’t start anything new.

I began The Short List many years ago to create short-term goals and a way to focus. I change things up as my priorities and interests change.

Project 1 (Stitching): Peace on Earth by ...

The Hard Part from Quilt Paint Create

We’re moving on to the next stage in my stitch project.

The easy part was picking a name for it. Going forward I’ll call it Study in Stitches, or maybe SiS for short.

I cut a piece of muslin-like fabric and serged the edges. I drew a rectangle on it to mark the border. I need enough margin around the edge to allow for finishing.

I pulled together various flosses and other stitching supplies. Not too bad so far.

After that I established a few ground rules.

  • I will make mistakes, and I will need to get over ...
